    Red face

first of all, love the new icons! it's been awhile since i posted. wink

i do NOT like the way katchoo is treating david. she is teasing him horribly! "ok, we can live together, and you're entirely at my beck and call (a la the eggs) but you can't even hug me. but i will bake for you... a "good boy cake" and suck the batter sexily off my finger while wearing a bikini top. and when you press for a hug, i'll eventually give in. that way, you keep pressing for hugs! whee! but we can't have sex, because you're a sheep. A SHEEP!" christ!

i think the "bitch" comment was directed at both women, because he was irritated and scared of tambi (her intrusion and killing abilities), and because katchoo is demanding a LOT without putting anything out. i don't mean just sex... i mean, she's treating him like a boyfriend with her demands, but won't even let him hug her without coaxing. at the same time, she doesn't tell him to stop. she doesn't put an end to his behavior. demand demand demand. and then her sister shows up, and bam! he's relegated to the back burner.

if katchoo doesn't like his behavior, she needs to stop it. they can get seperate houses. she can insist on no hugs and actually enforce it. she can flat out tell him "hey. i don't love you. i will never love you. stop grabbing me and trying to make me love you. it ain't gonna happen."

instead, she's encouraging him, and they dance this silly, frustrating little dance in a circle over and over and over. when's it going to stop? maaan. i'm glad i'm not david. i would have given up on her by now.

oh, and tambi rocks. i miss her hair (i have a thing for long hair), but she is so cool.

I basically agree here. It isn't that she should all give in to D-boy sexually(it was a mistake for her when she did) if she isn't game. But it's that she gets it both ways: the boyfriend as slave(a male June Cleaver, as it were) but not as true romantic partner. I understand his weakness here in trying once the point is lost(trust me!), but sometime enough has got to be enough. Jeez, Kat is being sooo Francine with him! biggrin

    Exclamation

it is NOT just a sexuality thing.
it's not right to demand sex as "payment" for anything. "well, i'll go get your eggs, but you have to sleep with me." no.

the point here is that she's using him. he has very deep, clingy feelings for her, and she feeds them. she lets him hang around and throw his love at her, and if he does it long enough, she breaks down and lets him hug her. well, if she breaks down for a hug, maybe if he keeps pressing it, she'll break down and give him a kiss. and, hey, maybe if he keeps at it, she'll fall in love with him, and they'll get married, and move to, i dn't know, ohio and have a 3 bedroom house with a 2 car garage and a lawn and a white picket fence. that's what he wants (ok, maybe not the specifics, but still) and what she doesn't want. but she encourages his fantasy, she encourages him to keep chasing after her no matter how much it hurts him.

    that isn't healthy.

if some guy were doing that to francine, katchoo would be all over his ass. but it's her and david, so it's ok.

I'M CALLING YOU OUT, KATCHOO! STOP PLAYING WITH DAVID!

I completely agree, Shadefell. They keep going through the same patterns, Katchoo and David and Francine.vIt's getting really tiresome, too, and I'd like someone to acknowledge it (within the book).

Katchoo's pattern of bitchiness (regarding David, Francine is a whole other topic):

    1. Katchoo treats David like dirt (for whatever reason, justified [his deception] or not [currently])
    2. David leaves.
    3. Katchoo goes after him /asks him to come back.
    4. David comes back.
    5. Return to Step One.

Y'know, if this is all David and Katchoo's not stringing him along at all, how come she keeps doing Step 3? Why doesn't she just let him go? Why kiss him not so many issues ago? Why tell him in the hospital that she's always loved him? I understand that this is very Katchoo-like behavior and all, but we've been around this bend a few times and I'd like to see that there will eventually something new on the other side. It's bringing down all the characters, to the point where I don't want to know them anymore.

in some ways, katchoo is as hung up on her lesbian/"i don't like guys" sexuality as francine is on her heterosexual/"white picket fence and babies" sexuality.

francine (until recently) shoves kat away and clings to chuck/freddie/brad, while kat shoves david away and clings to fran.

    Angry

I think Katchoo is simply being consistant. Over the course of the series she has treated either Francine, David or both in precisely the manner she has accused them or the other people in their lives of doing. She has been secretive, manipulative, condescending, focused entirely on her own needs, etc. etc. etc.

(Darcy trained her and she stayed trained. No wonder Tambi sticks around she'll have her little sister running the big six at least one more time in the near future.)

Francine occassionally has moments of clarity when she recognizes how she's being treated and calls Katchoo to task. Unfortunately, she also thinks that Katchoo will change.

More unfortunately, David is so used to subordinating himself to that kind of behavior from his "family" that he will only challenge the behavior under extreme conditions. Since Katchoo duplicates Darcy's behaviors but to less destructive ends, David isn't very likely to reach a point where his moral objections rise above an occassional "bitch" comment.

    And so it goes. frown

Well, Katchoo always acts like that when she wants something. Even if it is just eggs. She's been demanding with Francine before, too.

As for telling him to stop, what could she say? She clearly wants to keep her friendship with David. How do you tell a person to stop going out of his way for you, to stop loving you and wanting your affection, and still maintain a friendship?

If anything, I think the healthiest thing Katchoo could do would be to leave David alone for a few months. But she feels separated from Francine, and she needs a friend. Katchoo doesn't handle loneliness so well.

Complicated, isn't it? I personally feel confident that Terry is bringing us around to a big turning point. He's let us watch these three follow the same patterns over and over in order to let us know that not only are we finding them predictable, the characters are too. Someone is about to throw a wrench into this machine.

I dunno about the Tambi thing. I just think she and Katchoo have finally dropped that pattern of theirs("Tick tock, Cinderella", etc.) and learned to be sisters again.

Right on about Kat & David, though.

Wasn't that Bambi who was always calling her Cinderella?
